its time to take a shot
Hey everyone! So after debriefing from our last speaker we decided its time to start letting the ideas loose. Do you have an idea or a cool example? Even if you haven’t attended a speaker series we would love to hear it! You can post ideas here in our Idea Storm (let the lighting strike! yeah I couldn’t resist the cheesiness). We will began discussing suggestions and get some movement behind them on Monday 31 Aug @ 8PM Vic Library on the 4th floor. If you got any questions shoot us an email. There is also a 1.4 Billion Reasons gathering in Welly on Friday if anyone is keen to check out some big projects on at the moment
Catch up with Carla
Have you ever been video taping a speaker series on your computer when all the sudden your screen goes blue and standard error message pops up ending with “physical memory dump.” Anyone? Just me. So while capturing the event I lost the first have of video but we will have the full audio version available (please email us if you want to listen to it and we will see how to get you a copy). But for now if you want to review or catch up the section of video should be helpful. They include the second half of Carla’s talk including the Q and A time. Apologies for the audio getting out of sync, you may to just want to listen.
Debrief and Example Hunt
We had the privilegeto listen to a very informative speaker on Monday. Carla did a fantastic job sharing her personal journey with us along with some of the wisdom she has obtained because of it. Look on the site soon for posting of her talk if you missed it or if your following us online. This Monday 8PM on 4th Floor of VIC Library we will be debriefing from the speaker series and continuing to brain storm ideas and review other examples different groups and people are attempting. Got an idea? Share it on our idea page. Hope to see you there!
Climbers have more fun.
Round 2! Join us at Monday (17 August) 8PM at the Ramsey House (located on 8 Kelburn Parade) for our second speaker Carla Bently. Carla will be getting us below the surface with a more indepth look at the history of poverty in South East Asia. Carla is a Development Researcher and completed her thesis on this subject. Carla has played a crucial part in the launch of another effort in the fight against poverty and brings a lot for us to learn from. Join us on our quest to launching an effort to make a difference in the global neighborhood. Your ideas can change the world, come and share them.
Missed the first speaker? Don’t worry you can catch up. Check out this post.
Welcome to the Good Life
Join us tonight at 8PM Tonight (10 August) on the 4th Floor of the VIC Library to be a part of our ongoing dicussion; “Where do we push to make a lasting impact on poverty?” After our first speaker and some follow up research we have found it crucial to ask the question “What is the good life?” Our answer to this question drives our understanding of poverty. See you tonight and bring your thinking cap.
Catch up: Recording from Rung One
On the Climb: the Digestion Process
Join us 8PM Monday 27 July @ the VIC Library on the 4th Floor (just look for the loud people) to be apart of our debrief, discussion, and direction (I get paid per ’d’ usage) from our first speaker Ben Thirkell-White. If you attended please bring your thoughts and your questions from the night. Your voice matters and you have a say in where the project goes. If you want to check out some of Ben’s suggested reading you can find them here and here and maybe even here. Hope to see you Monday!
